I Believe the Children Are Our Future
The following is an actual Thank You letter I received from a local student, who took part in a shadowing program at her high school. She an several others came over to the park to learn about the Hospitality and Tourism industry, and they were required, I’m guessing, to write thank you letters to us for helping them with their future careers. Again, this is the letter, word for word, exactly as it exists – sans the student’s name, of course.
Mr Daniel
Thank You
Charleston Parks and Recreation
Dear Mr Daniel:
Thank you for allowing to shadow you at Charleston County Parks enjoy meeting with you and learning about your position as a James Island office/campground. I understand that your responsibilities include answering phones and making reservations.
During my shadowing experience, I learned: that u have to have a good attitude, and a good personality. I need to develop my skills in the following areas to be successful in this career fields: Nursing.
I would like to continue studying in this field because it is what I need.
Name of Student
Again, I’m not lying. However, it is hard working being an office/campground at the same time.
And I feel I need to explain the final sentence of the second paragraph. This was the girl who thought that Hospitality dealt with Hospitals. That’s all I’m going to say about that.
I also liked the header for the letter. Classy.

Freaking hilarious.
Oh, the poorly abused colon … and comma … and words.
Wow. Teach them well and let them lead the way.
Maybe they wrote it on their phone. I am guilty of many grammar mistakes and typos as I am flying down the highway and typing at the same time.
Let us look for positives:
At least they understood the concept of “paragraphs”.
I got some other letters, which weren’t exactly paragons of grammatical prowess, but were definitely better than this.
You’re right though, morethananelectrician, at least they got paragraphs right.
If it wasn’t for that and how funny this is, I think my brain would explode.
