Four tanks of gas, 27 hours of driving, and one Arby’s combo later…

As I’m sure many of you know, I went to St. Louis this weekend. I say that I’m sure many of you know this, since I assume that all of you are so engrossed in this blog that you have taken it upon yourselves to stalk my every move and be constantly updated on my goings on that I may not divulge to you here in this public forum. Alas, I shall inform you of my trip anyway.

I drove to St. Louis, that’s right, drove, on Friday, leaving at 5am, arriving in St. Louis at 5 pm. That’s 13 hours total travel time, but take an hour for lunch in Lexington with a friend there at a meditteranean restaurant, along with filling up with gas, and you’ve got some impressive driving on my part (read: mostly illegal). I’m sort of kidding. Obviously I was speeding, but no faster than most others on the road, and always being wary of other motorists around me (read: law enforcement officials). My only goal in going to Sweet Louis was to visit a good friend of mine. I’m leaving out details of others, because I don’t know what crazies may be reading this…you know who you are. I had a fun time overall seeing the city. We went out to eat at several ethnic restaurants, and  for drinks at a really cool neighborhood bar – literally IN a neighborhood, which was cool for me. It was not until my drive back…and then, once I got back onto I-26, that I had any semblance of American cuisine. My meals for the weekend are such (since I know you enjoy lists):

Bowl of Cheerios, apple. (Breakfast 5AM Friday)

Lamb gyro, hummus. (Lunch 1PM Friday)

Chinese unidentifiable chicken – even though I clearly ordered manchurian beef – which was delicious (Dinner Friday)

No breakfast on Saturday

Panang Curry (Lunch saturday)

Sushi sampler (Dinner Saturday) along with a bottle of Sake.

Oatmeal (Breakfast 10am Sunday)

No lunch

Arby’s Roast Beef and Cheddar with Curly fries and 3 cups of Dr. Pepper (9pm Sunday).

I realize now, that I probably couldn’t have come up with a more boring idea for an entry. But there it is. I’m sure you all will survive until I come up with something a little more exciting for you.

Also, a new note: I will be posting more regularly on this blog. Ultimately my goal is not just to write for the Internet’s enjoyment, as if it were a person who also thought my writing was boring and uninteresting, but also for you, and others. I figure the best way to get people to read this blog is to write daily on it. At least then even if I have a crappy post one day, you can be sure that if you check back the next day…it might be a little better. I’m making no promises though.

  1. Well, it’s indeed fortunate that you ate so well (for 4 out of 8 meals). It would have been a shame if you’d spent 25+ hours in a car, drove all the way to St. Louis for slightly incomprehensible reasons, and had to endure miserable cusine.
